Sergey Zyukin, a leading specialist in the development and implementation of polymer compositions of METACLAY JSC, made a presentation of a silanol-crosslinkable composition based on EPR at the Second All-Russian Cable Congress, which is held within the exhibition Cabex 2019.

The presentation was held in the section "New technological approaches and trends in the manufacture of cable products" under the leadership of Izyaslav Peshkov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of VNIIKP JSC (All-Russian Research and Development Institute for Cable Industry).

The EPR-based silanol-crosslinkable composition is a novelty in the Russian polymer cable segment. The idea of this development came about with the market demand for the production of special-purpose cables for severe operating conditions with increased (strict) requirements for explosion and fire safety. These are cables for mining combines, drilling machines, conveyors, pumps, the properties of which cannot be achieved on a conventional polyethylene silanol-crosslinkable compound.

- The report aroused great interest from the participants of the Congress. After completing the section at our stand, we held detailed expert consultations, presented comparative characteristics of EPR-based compositions, and shared our production experience. The METACLAY stand at Cabex became an information and discussion platform for representatives of cable plants and VNIIKP JSC (All-Russian Research and Development Institute for Cable Industry).

Together with our partner cable companies, METACLAY JSC produced two EPR brands and conducted tests that confirmed the high manufacturability of the material when applied in comparison with vulcanized rubber, the ability to be processed it on any extruder, at any speed, at any cross-sections, and other advantages.
