For the purpose of proactive import substitution, in 2014 METAKLAY JSC developed a brand new and unparalleled product for the pipe industry - monolayer polyethylene anti-corrosive protection coating METALEN PE-21 - which allows to exclude the use of adhesive when applying external corrosion protection.
Since 2015 METAKLAY JSC began to introduce METALEN PE-21 material at all major Russian pipe plants: VMZ JSC, VTZ JSC, ITZ JSC, ChTPZ PJSC.
To this date, positive conclusions have already been received from Gazprom VNIIGAZ LLC on the possibility of using a monolayer coating system for anticorrosive protection of pipes.
Changes have been made to the System of standardization of Gazprom on the possibility of using a monolayer structure in the "anticorrosive polyethylene coating for factory-applied pipes for the construction, reconstruction and overhaul of underground and offshore gas pipelines with an operating temperature of up to + 80C", changes are also being made to the specifications of pipe plants, in terms of inclusion requirements for a new coating design.
