METACLAY JSC started production of a new compound for power cable sheathing METALEN PE-12K in natural color with a new system of UV stabilization, specially designed for coloring in different colors.
Compound has high strength values (over 29 MPa) and relative elongation (over 850%) in comparison with standard grades used for production of power cable sheaths, very high level of cracking resistance (over 5000 hours), hardness Shore D more than 62.
The use of sheaths of different colors gives a number of advantages. In case of cable breakdown, it is easier to find the breakdown spot due to the fact that the breakdown spot has a darker color. Often when laying a large number of cable lines in close proximity to each other there is a problem of their identification, the difference in colors simplifies this task. Due to the strong difference between the color of the sheath and the color of the ground, the probability of its damage during construction work and repair of the cable is reduced. The use of bright colors and phosphor pigments can significantly reduce the probability of equipment collisions in areas of limited visibility, such as coal mines.
